Fiesole, a lovely hill town overlooking the city of Florence, situated about 8 km northeast of the Florence. Until 1840 there was only one road of reaching Fiesole. Important ruins and archeological findings tell of the ancient and historical importance of the city. until 6th. Century B.C. it was and important center of Etruscans. After the battle in 308 B.C. Fiesole passed under the domination of the Republic of Rome. 3rd. Century A.D. when Italy was divided into nine jurisdictions when Firence was nominated the main city of Toscana Firence received the Official recognition of Fiesole supremacy. |
