The Uffizi is the oldest art gallery in the world, the most important in Italy and also one of the greatest in Europe. 

The building containing the Gallery was built for Cosimo 1 in the middle of 16 century in the area between Palazzo Veccchio and the Arno river to house the public offices.

The Uffizi gallery is home to numerous famous art works such as the Birth of Venus and the Primavera by Botticelli,  as well as works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci Titian and Rubens.
