Pietrasanta
was founded around 1255, when a nobleman from Milan, Guiscardo da
Pietrasanta, lord of the province of Lucca, gave it his name.
Pietrasanta is a historic
town with notable monuments mainly contained in the magnificent Piazza
del Duomo
and also important centre for the artistic working of marble.

Beautiful historical centre begins with Porta
a
Pisa. Comming through porta you are in Piazza
del Duomo, dominated by the Rocca di Sala .

Il
Duomo with facade of marble of 14. century,
contrasts red brick bell tower of 15.-16. century. On the
rightside of Duomo is situated Il Battistero restored in 18.
century.
Pietrasanta become very popular for people interested in
sculpturing with Museo dei Bozzetti. You can find there models
in the real dimension , the works from the middle of 800 till
today. |
