7th century B.C. the Oscans  found the first settlement.
6th century B.C. Etrucian influence and grown the town.
524.B.C. The Greeks defeat the Etruscans at Cumae.
423 B.C .The Samnites conquer control of the Campania region.
343 - 290 B.C. Rome is victorius over the Samnites and assumes control of the Campania Region.

218 - 203 B.c. Hannibal invades Italy.
2 nd century B.C. Pompei becomes an ally of Rome.
80 B.C. Becomes a Roman colony
27 B.C. Octavius takes power and becomes Augustus Caesar - the first Roman emperor.
62 A.D. Pompei is seriously damaged by an earthquake . 
79 A.D. Eruption of Vesuvius and destruction of the town.
