This square, is the one of the most beautiful 
and  famous  in  the  ROME, covers  site of Domitian´s  stadium.  You  can  enjoy  here masterpieces by artists like Bernini, Borromi
e Giacomo della Porta, who were among the most  important  exponents  of  Baroque  Art.
In the square there are three magnificent fountains:
Fontana dei Fiumi - Bernini´s project
Gange - symbol Asia
Nilo - for Africa
Danube - for Europe
Rio della Plata - for America
Fontana del Moro
This fountain, erected in 1574 following
the plans of Giacomo della Porta ,
completely restored in 1653 by Bernini
Fontana del Nettuno
In the  northern  part  of  the square, was also restored  by  Bernini  but  remained  for three hundred years without statues and decoration.
In 1873 Antonio Della Bitta won the competitio
to carve the statue of Neptune.
Work was completed in 1878.
